Who will come and do the job?
Josh is an owner-operator. When you book 'Having a Blast' - you get Josh! If the weather may affect services or he is unwell he will communicate a new date for booking.
What is a house wash?
A diluted chemical/soap is applied to the exterior surfaces of your home. Surfaces are then soft-washed at low pressure. This soft wash process kills moss, mold, and lichen, lifting dirt, salts, and grime. The outside of your gutters, your eaves, windows, and cladding are cleaned to the ground.
What is water blasting?
Water blasting is a high-pressure cleaning system different from soft washing. Water blasting is not suitable for painted surfaces and is not recommended for eaves or soffits, hence the low-pressure, soft house wash process is the best way to maintain your home. Water blasting is fantastic for renewing concrete surfaces like driveways and paths, it's also wonderful for commercial applications such as agricultural sheds, stockyards, and equipment.
What is a roof treatment?
Chemical treatment for killing lichen and moss applied to roof surfaces. Over 6-12 months depending on rainfall and quantity of growth the lichen breaks down and rinses off in the rain. A roof can be washed at pressure but 'Having a Blast' does not often recommend this due to the risk of angles causing roof leaks.
What is a gutter clear?
The build-up of leaves, debris, and dirt is removed from the guttering. Highly recommended with every house wash. Gutters should be cleared out every 6 months especially if you catch water from your roof for tank supply. If you have trees overhanging your home it may be recommended to have gutters cleared more frequently to prevent damage and overflowing in heavy rainfall. Gutter clearing can be done in any season.
Is commercial cleaning safe for kids, pets & plants?
Yes! House washing and water blasting are safe for kids, pets & plants. In fact, the outside area of your home will be left more hygienic after cleaning. 'Having a Blast' recommends kids and pets are inside or away from the area whilst cleaning is in progress. It is also highly recommended any fabric is removed from the spray zone including washing on the line.
Can a house wash damage my house?
Soft washing at low pressure is a process designed for cleaning buildings without damaging them - it protects houses by cleaning away mold and lichen that can deteriorate surfaces over time. Any pre-existing damage Josh notices he will note. If your house is due to be painted or the house wash is for pre-painting some paint may come off during the process.
We are on tank water supply. Can I still have my house washed?
Yes! Please remove tank connection before the job and reconnect after. We recommend waiting two weeks or until after the first decent rainfall (50 mm) to reconnect tank if you have had a roof treatment. If you are unsure how tank is connected touch base with Josh prior.
What if I don't know the size of my house?
Don't worry, just email the address. We will look up the sqm size and confirm with you.
How do I know what cladding type my house is?
No worries, just email some photos to Josh. 'Having a Blast' does not offer house washing for Cedar and stained timber cladding due to the specialist process required.
Do you have a pre-sale package?
Preparing your property asset properly for the real estate market is very important. Josh can provide a quote to get your place looking sharp for photos, open homes, and viewings. 'Having a Blast' also has property maintenance offers for regular services looking after rental properties, baches, holiday homes, and Airbnb/BookaBach.
The access to my house is tricky, will you still do the job?
Let Josh know what makes it tricky and he will probably be up for the challenge. Josh needs to get his equipment close to the site so a clear driveway of vehicles is most helpful. Take some photos/measurements of the narrowest points or any restrictions so he can work out a solution. Boat-only access in the Marlborough Sounds? Josh loves working locally, let him know the location and he will work out any logistics and barge costs to get the job done in paradise.
